Man Meets Woman - 1
Everyone in here seems normal. Mark doesn’t particularly like normal. He starts to turn around to go back out the door, but the pissy little voice in his head whispers, What’s wrong with you? Go sit down. Get happy. So he grabs a stool, orders absinthe.
The thunderous rhythm of the bass assaults his ears, just the way he likes it. He orders a second drink. Slowly scanning the dance floor and the tables, he sees a woman over in the corner, alone, on a bright red sofa. She locks eyes with him. His heart constricts and he draws in a sharp breath without looking away.
He walks slowly towards her, mesmerized by the idea of her. She has nice knees, her lips match the sofa. A long black braid falls from the top of her head. She holds onto it, as if to keep herself from falling. She stares at him, impudent, saying, “Naega chei jal naga.” He’s stunned. His blood pressure climbs like a monkey up a baobab. He answers, “ Chei Chei Chei, jal naga!”
Magically, the music morphs into a disturbingly loud electropop - the sounds of enraged hornets and ear-stabbing sirens. The room is now bathed in red spotlights, and everyone looks confused. Mark reaches out and grabs her by her braid, pulls her up from the red sofa, saying, “Let’s do this.”
As they begin to move together, all the dancers back away to give them room. Everyone feels the electric jolt of connection between the two. The tension affects the entire room. This man and this woman were meant to find each other! And, right there on the dance floor, there is an explosion of anarchy.
What we have here is a South Korean Saturday Night Fever/ Grease-like situation. Complete with absinthe, nice knees, lips, a long black braid of hair , lights and loud music. Where can this lead? Good one, Sharron!
Great job Sharron. Pure magnetism. Strong pull, impossible to fight. Excellent description of an age old reaction to instant attraction. Loved it. Almost everyone has felt this at least once and if someone hasn't they need to check their pulse. Just my opinion, but I think we all look secretly, even subconsciously, search for this feeling. Thanks for sharing. - Jim
