Here are four new pieces of micro-fiction.
Which story intrigues you the most?
Which would you like to see expanded into a longer story?
Let me know in the comments.
ONE
I ‘m not sorry I did it. I just had to teach him. He said I was too high-maintenance. But I am not! I just want what I want. Is that too much to ask? Can’t a woman have a goddamned opinion of her own or make a choice without some guy getting upset?
He wasn’t that hurt, I barely grazed him. He’ll be fine.
TWO
It so happened that in this house a few years back, a girl had a baby. She was only fourteen years old at the time.
When that little girl died, her baby was left in our care, and heaven knows we’ve tried to do right by this child, considering the unfortunate circumstances of his birth. We’ve raised him to be a God-fearing boy, and obedient.
But we are old now, and he is proving to be a little too much for us to handle.
THREE
It strikes me as odd that Mariah hasn’t called. She was so damned mad at me, I was sure she’d call tonight, if only to tell me she never wants to see my fucking face ever again. Which I deserve.
Man, she was so good. So good! What a total idiot I am. Why do I always do this?
FOUR
Everything’s tangled.
Tangled like the wires and cables hidden behind her desk.
Tangled like the sheets after her latest one-night stand,
like the lies she’s been telling her husband for months.
She doesn’t know where to begin to make things right. Or if it’s even possible to make things right.
Sharron, for me it would be #1 to expand on. "I barely grazed him" did it for me. - Jim
I’d like to see the wires untangled in number 4. Only you can create order from chaos.
