Fingers nailed, barbed wire wrapped, pustule’s volumes— I know more lies below the bedlam’s 🛌 flesh fleece where hundreds more words lay in the dark to make your nightmare ride . Grab the reins.
Beautiful imagery, internal rhyme, and alliteration. (My goodness, the Lit Major is showing.) This poem holds the stuff of my nightmares. Probably every elder will agree with you. Nailed it!
I delivered "spider-web eggs to my daughter and grandson ( A Martha Stewart recipe, that took me 3 hours to peel the frigging eggs) just before the second night of their TRAIL OF TERRORS. It is a yearly event designed to, yet you guessed it!) freak out anyone. A garage filled, a lawn filled with a cemetery, skeletons dwarfing cars...ooooh my.
You are No Baaaaa humbug woman! Baa is for sheep, if anything, you are a stronger than male lady! Able to be on, not only your own two feet, but your own unique, individual imagination, phrasing and energies--go for it lady ( although I kinda remember Ahab's comment about November...in the gray November, or something like that, of my soul...So let's just skip November???
You better get on over here RIGHT NOW!! All my neighbors have their house lights off. Who knows what they are cooking up for a little entertainment. HELLLLLLP!
I hear warm milk before bed fixes that.
Or a nice, warm, manly man lying next to you. I'm told.
I curtsey in your specific direction )))))))
Thanks, Kate!
I thought it was Brandy
That, too.
Creepy good fun!
A good day for it, right? Thanks, Kim.

Euw! Okay. I concede, Rich. You beat me on this one. ha ha ha
You haven’t even taken the reins. You just waiting for thunder or lightning?
Nope. Ain’t doing it. Unless pie is involved
3.14 extension to you.
I was thinking more like pumpkin…
Not in my story book. Pecan would be great.
A nice dark, creepy journey. I really liked "foulish howl". Hehe. Great post, Sharron.
Thanks Parker. I had fun playing around with irregularly spaced rhyming on this one.

Scary, indeed. Well done, Sharron. She needs a nice steaming cup of camomile tea.
My choice would be bourbon straight up. Make it a double and be quick about it!
You had me at "The hurry scurry of fangs and claws." Creepy good, Sharron.
Thank you, my hero. What are YOU writing, my friend? When are we getting more overheard conversations from the Speedee Mart?
Lot's of unfinished stories here. Maybe I'll have a chat with you soon for some inspiration.
Okay!

From this, is it possible to awaken??
Undo??
It IS Halloween!
Adding to the mayhem, I see. I guessed you were THAT type of grrandma. As for me? Staying in, lights out. Bah, humbug! Oh wait, wrong holiday.

Thank you, Jill, for the encouragement! You are very sweet, my friend.
Ooooooh Sharron! Remind me never to sleep at your house on Halloween!!! Shivers!!!!! 😱
You better get on over here RIGHT NOW!! All my neighbors have their house lights off. Who knows what they are cooking up for a little entertainment. HELLLLLLP!
Eeek!!
I don’t know how much help 𝙄 can be…do you want me to “Benny the Torch?”
Oh no, thank you. I will save Benny the Torch for when I REALLY need help. Don't want to get too crazy, now.
Hope that's a 'one and done' dream and not recurrent.
Yeah… me too. So far no repetition.
I put soothing music when I go to bed. That fixes any scary dreams.
Yes! I recently found a source of mermaid or siren music that seems like it would be very helpful in falling asleep. Lovely,
The rhyme here is really fun to read out loud. Well done!
Thank you, Josh, for noticing the irregular rhyme pattern. And for your kind comment! I appreciate your stopping by over here at Leaves.
Wow, a brilliantly spooky tale for Halloween - if I'd read this post on the day itself I doubt I would have slept! 👻
And hurrah for the feature! x
Now that’s a spooky one. Great story, Sharron. It hits just as hard on November 15th!
