1. Only U
a 100-word story
It was just lying there in a crack in the sidewalk, a tiny sparkling U amid pebbles and dust. She picked it up, sensing it was an omen, a message from the Giver of All Gifts. She held the letter in the palm of her hand and heard it speak to her:
U !
U have the spirit of an eagle, the strength of a lion.
U are a remarkable woman, and are everything U need to be.
U will expand your dreams and break new, creative ground!
She suddenly saw her entire future revealed in that one small symbol.
2. Silent Witness
a 50-word story
The early morning light slowly turns the massive land-form into flames of copper and gold.
“Lord Almighty,” she whispers. Tears run down her wrinkled cheeks. She stands in silent awe of the spectacle opening before her.
She is 80 years old, and viewing the Grand Canyon for the first time.
I love both of these, Sharron. Inspiration can come in a tiny "U" or a grand canyon.
PS - I love reading your 50 (100) word stories. You so capture a moment in just a few words. That's a gift.
Make sure she leaves the U turned open end up. I live in a country once where they fitted horseshoes on their trucks open side down. It was a miserable little country, all because the horseshoes weren’t able to catch good luck when it rained down.
