'Feeding the wrong hunger' - just wow, Sharron. I loved both stories, but the pizza tale is extraordinarily powerful. Thank you. x 🍕

Feeding the wrong hunger: What a hell of a line, Sharron. So many suffer because of it.

Two hearts battling pain. Well done.

Sharron Bassano's avatar

Yes. However -- as I am a great believer in happily-ever-after, I do bring these two lonely hearts together in a later story.

I remember that one. I didn't know it was them.

Hunger can be so confusing, but you nailed this one, Sharron! Your second story broke my heart. Not all love stories are forever. It is amazing, what you do with a picture and fifty words!

Loved both of these. The first one especially. 💜💜

Thank you , Meg. I appreciate you taking the time to stop over here at Leaves. I know how crazy busy your life is....

Meg Oolders's avatar

It IS busy ... ack, why is it so busy??? ... but I'm always happy to make time for your stories, Sharron. They're good for my soul.

I wonder if I could bottle it? Bassano's Swamp Root Tonic Cure-all and Magical Elixer for the Soul

If I may ... that has a bit of a snake oil vibe to ... What about Sharron's Special Soul Sauce instead? 😉

Both stories are a bit depressing! Or is it me?

Sharron Bassano's avatar

Yes, they are., Yael. But they found each other. I like a happily-ever-after some times.

"He knows he is feeding the wrong hunger, but you can only do what you can do." In fifty words, you've captured so much of the human condition. A microscopic example of an almost existential problem - Consumerism . And BTW, I was right with you incl. the Belgium beer (it's in my refrig).

Go find that girl with the dress in the closet, Pizza guy. Bring the beer!

Sharron Bassano's avatar

Ha Ha Ha! Done deal, Jim! https://sharronbassano.substack.com/p/north-beach-hook-up . Wishing never wins - you got to get out there. Apparently.

Yep, Like the old saying "If wishes were horses...."

Thanks for the link. It's one of my favorites.

Very good, Sharron. These two, he and she, could meet up.

These two ought to get together, dress, pizza, beer, and all. Loved this lonely hearts. I hope they find each other.

Bravo! I loved reading about Tony and Rose and his wonderful parents. I hope Rose bites the bait.

Beautiful dress, worthy to be kept just for that. Also symbol of "Phew ! dodged a bullet there."

No rush. Wait for the right partner. Regret is a sour breakfast. Might take more than one try (what doesn't ?) No anchovies, no pepperoni.

Sharron Bassano's avatar

No anchovies, no pepperoni and no linguiça or blood sausage, please! Urk!

Kate Henry's avatar

Yeah.... not on pizza.

Pizza feeds a lot of hungers. That and chocolate. ))

My "go-to" combo. Thanks

You are doing, writing, feeling, and sharing: doing so much to appease hungers. Some may not be the right kind, but some may be.

Thank you for skipping the anchovies!

Okay, then, I will take the anchovies for my breakfast. Thanks for reading!
