Waffle Hat
Maurice likes to wear his waffles
before he eats them.
He likes to crunch the head of a mouse
and leave the tiny feet on the stairs.
He sleeps in the sun on hot concrete
and hides behind a fern to watch a ‘possum.
Maurice kneads a pillow, eyes half-closed,
and often plays with a grass-hopper.
He drinks from the birdbath,
And licks himself in disgusting places.
He hides under the covers where no one can find him.
He sits at the heater when it is off.
He’s willing to wait a long time for heat.
He’s just an ordinary cat, really.
Well … except for that waffle thing.
I was thinking like Richard, below. Maybe Raymond's co-host.
Maurice can be special secretary of the Raymond fan club. No waffling. But a wedge of cheese might work for a crown of glory. He’s special too. Toss him a catnip mouse.
