Thank you, Mitchell. How many times I have stood on a station platform as a non-stop express roared through and felt that SMACK of air? I real physical blow! Unforgettable.

I am sorely missing getting out on the rails, and lamenting that I never will again. boo hoo.

Trains are captivating to me, for some reason. Since I was a boy. They still are.

Oh, me too! I never rented a car in my Euro travels. All train rides. I was so lucky. How I miss it!

Train, train, take me anywhere! There's something about those clacking wheels.

I know, right? I even love the short rural rides on the Fort Bragg (CA) train and the Santa Cruz Roaring Camp train. The sound, the rocking, the scenery whizzing by. Magic!

With You in Spirit for the ride! I love trains. My GrandDad Popo was a brakeman and conductor on the P&LE Railroad. I grew up on trains, clacking-humming-swaying are natural to me, knew all the train songs, always wave to the engineers. Would be very contented living in a caboose. Thanks for the memories!

Oh great! Glad it woke up a little memory for you, Bonita! When I was 14 I rode on a train with my mom from Santa Cruz to North Dakota. Man! I loved that trip!

My mind went in a different direction. I was hoping she was along side the tracks rather than on them. When I worked at the PD, we had a case where a teenage girl committed suicide by walking in front of a train - that was 30 years ago - I never forgot.

Oh... sorry Janice, that you had to experience that. Yes, I can see how you might initially misinterpret this little story. Running along side the tracks, wanting to get on- that's me, metaphorically speaking.

Cool beans! Glad you liked it, Meg. These 50-word exercises are such good practice for learning to pare back my work to the essential. The rhyming, which I wanted to sound like a train's rhythm, felt too much like work.
