Come early morning, the sun will rise again as it has for over four billion years. It will sustain valleys and mountains, deserts and seas in equal measure. Take heart in that.
Come early morning, we humans will rise with that sun, as we have for more than 300,000 years. We’ll square our tired shoulders and go about the daily business of finding food and shelter and belonging. Remember that.
Life is no more precarious today than it was at the awakening of our species. Whether by stone or club, by assault rifle or bomb, death is still death. Yet, somehow, be it through human wisdom, or good fortune, or the grace of all the gods, life goes on come early morning.
A song written by Eleanor Farjeon in 1931, and recorded by Cat Stevens in 1971. As we enter into the dark days of winter, we remember the light.
Solstice a stitch in time
Flicker of light
The candle wick short
— then long. Day’s light returns life.
"life goes on come early morning." Yes and every morning is a good morning.
Thanks for sharing Morning Has Broken. I have always liked that song and never realized that Cat Stevens hadn't written it. Thanks for the bit of history.
