"I have 11 notebooks full of stuff.Maybe I could read some of it to you?" ..."you look a lot younger than you do in your photo. You really don't look 21 at all..." Two of my favorite lines. These are all classic! Just great, Sharron!

I found that beautiful, graphic version of the song "Come Together". It was my prompt.

Enjoyed this Sharron. Interaction between people has always been entertaining and very interesting to me. - Jim

I have written a few of these "one-sided" or "fragmented" conversation pieces. I like to leave the unheard part up to the reader. Sometimes it works, but not always. Thank you, Jim! I am sure liking your serial "All In A Row". You have created truly memorable characters.

What a laugh and a half to begin a day of experiencing the "storm of a lifetime" as the so-called news states...little misunderstandings that have no judgment, just an asterisk of "do-you-believe-that-guy/girl-isn't for-real moments. Those in person things that don't get communicated well in virtual meetings.

I loved it!!

Thanks, Jill. A little silly but I hope it made you laugh. We could all use a good laugh right now. My favorite fragments were from the Vegan woman and the guy reading the book about Russia.

Did you create these tidbits of treasure, or were they really overheard and edited waaaay down?

It's all fiction, but has some basis in truth, I think

So truthful.

Ah Sharron, I see you have really been eavesdropping….. funny.

Expand full comment

Yeah. Well, not really. This was all fiction. I haven't been out on the metro lately - that's where the real stuff is found. Hope this made you laugh, anyway.

Ha ha ha. They said the same thing about MY generation. And yours, no doubt. Yet, here we are plugging away... Thanks Kim for reading at Leaves and for your comment!

What a relief. Not a political line about inauguration. But most are great pick up lines. Dominoes delivers to all parties.

Really enjoyed these, Sharron. Behind their stories is a loneliness without direction, so real.

That's exactly what I was hoping to convey. Thank you Ron!

heeheeheeheee One of my favorite things to do is eavesdrop on people's conversations. Just the little snippets are intriguing and oftentimes hilarious. You really have a good ear if this article is any indication. LOL

When I ride the Metro bus, I report what I see and hear. In this case, though, The 7th Street Bistro and its conversation fragments are pure fiction. Glad it made you laugh. We need a good laugh, don't we?

We need all the laughs we can get and give. Let's laugh at the Devil and yuck it up.

"I’m vegan, by the way. Did I tell you I was vegan? Oh, yeah, I guess did. Twice? Oh, okay.”

This is hilarious. No offense to any vegans here but it does seem to come up an awful lot in conversation with those folks.

Yes. A stereotype based in reality. We respect dietary choices, but some of us already have our own religion.

Haha! I really enjoyed this today, Sharron. I love these little snippets of conversations.
