I can just feel the positive energy from your conversation with the checker at this delightful little store. Just reading your story has uplifted my day.... ripples of kindness!
And thanks for sharing Neal Foard. My favorite video story teller!
I am not great with attaching videos. Never know what will happen. Glad it worked for you, Kate. Foard has a lot of short video tales on Youtube. Uplifting and funny.
There was an elderly clerk in my grocery with quite thinning hair. She tried to dye it "maybe reddish" so the thin wouldn't show as much, and it was awful. I told her how BOLD it was to do the "Tropical Bird" colors. ))) She didn't like the result and was embarassed to show up at work. She didn't know what to do, so I suggested the local hairdresser could erase what she didn't like and put it right. She had NOT thought of that and smiled thinking her trial would soon be over. Next week, it was a pretty shade of auburn. ))) Another, different store, dark hair with white band close to her head. I complimented her "Adult Plumage" coming in. Each week there is wider silver. I tell her the silver is a beautiful clear shade, not dull or yellowish. She is liking it. ))) Mine turned silver when I was 12, 66 yrs ago. Finally got rid of the disturbing black stragglers. ))) It doesn't take much to make a smile.
Sweet story. Then his boss fired him for giving away merchandise. 🤣
I totally agree about service industry workers. They take a lot of abuse from entitled customers (and often, bosses) and don't get paid nearly enough. Enjoy the tarts.
Yeah. I think so too. With all the horror that is drummed into us day after day. on the airwaves, we need a little counterbalance. So glad I don;t have a Tv...
You're right Sharron, it's a two-way gift. It's a good feeling to walk out of a store or restaurant with a smile on your face and know that you've left one behind you. That market looks like a place I'd like to visit!
Sometimes just looking right into a cashier's eyes and smiling - letting them know you SEE them and appreciate them is a gift. As an older woman, I often feel invisible and I don't like it. I counteract it by making sure I don't make others feel invisible. Thanks for your comment, my friend..
Good! Job done, then. Admittedly, it is not the best writing I have ever done, but I just wanted to put something positive out there amidst all the hopelessness out in the world. We do what we can, right?
Those tarts must have tasted all the sweeter after this interaction. Keep treating yourself & others with kindness & spreading the word has a ripple effect.
What a lovely story!!
Thank you Kristi. Happy holidays to you!
Same to you, Sharron!

How were the tarts? 😊
Tarts were well worth the price! Thanks for being my inspiration, Heather.
Nice. Tempting to ask after the steak and ale pie in a week or so...
Great idea. Different clerk, different day... might work again. Free pie! ha ha h a
There is NO little red and white arrow hahahaha. I did click the two others. Good stories both. ))))

Great stories, Kate. Thanks for sharing them!
"Puhhh-fect!"
I LOVED that tale. He is such a fine story teller. Thanks for reading over here, James.
Love this tale, Sharron. And the tarts sure look yummy!
Neal Foard never fails. I have watched every one of his stories on youtube, some several times!

Thank you, Mark. Yes. Low pay, high stress. A little kindness goes a long way.
Hi Sharron, It's so nice to hear those kinds of stories. We need lots more of them.

What a lovely story, Sharron. It’s wonderful to hear about interactions like this one. I’m sure you made his day as much as he made yours!
Thank you, Justin! I got my 50-word ready for Friday!
Sharron, what a beautiful gift. Such a wonderful story!
Thanks, Rebecca. And a happy winter's morning to you across there. Stay warm and dry.
Thank you! It's plenty dry here at the moment, but really, really cold! 🥶
Wow, tales of free tarts and introduction to Neal Foard, what a boon--mood lifted! Thank you!

The Queen of Hearts,
She made some tarts,
All on a summer’s day
Right on! I'm getting in line. Gluten, lard, sugar...yum yum. Thanks for reading, John!
I need to make that pear tart!
Okay! I volunteer to be your tart-tester.
Loved the dialog, especially, in this anecdote.

Happy holidays, my dear friend.
And same to you, Lori. ( It was at Trader Joes in Capitola, by the way.)
