The Thunder bolt strikes. The town burns. Ashes rise and chestnuts thrive. People rebuild lives return to newer times but the road to recovery will take longer than expected.
Some battles cannot be won, but we keep pushing forward trying to make a small dent. Thanks, Wendy Martin, for coming over here to Leaves for a quick read.
We have to remain vigilant -- even if we may be able do no more than report it. Thanks for reading this, John. I rarely choose to write an essay but I thought this was an interesting issue, as it is world-wide.
The warning bell has been ringing so loud, for so long, the world has become deaf to it. I think Mother Nature will eventually take back the earth, and start over, because we obviously can't be trusted with it.
Mother Nature is indeed relentless in her revenge. We only need to allow the garden we worked so hard to establish go untended for a year or two. She will return with seeds upon the wind, animals returning to buried burrows, and plants that need constant care withering in neglect. As for the cities of playthings, you're correct Sharron. They're all around us, Vegas, Moab, any small town that allows an "event" or festival to bring tourists. sigh
Bingo! The wealthy have taken over and erased the whole purpose of what a bunch of self-reliant hippies tried to achieve. All's good with the current population as long as someone else does the work. I wrote about a bunch of "burners" who stopped at Middlegate on their way back from last year's Burning Man. bitchbitchbitch. (alt.Burning Man)
Humans are so disappointing at times! How all is well with you my lovely Lace Guru x
All is fine and dandy here, my friend. Thanks for coming by to read!

We just go on, don't we. Thanks Richard.
The old cliche rings true: Man plans and God laughs.
Exactly so, Mark. Thank you.
.. Brilliant ! This salamander has spoken ! 🦎🏴☠️🇨🇦
Thank you, oh great salamander guy.
I have been to Italy 5 times and my heart broke for the villagers forced to leave their homes.
Some battles cannot be won, but we keep pushing forward trying to make a small dent. Thanks, Wendy Martin, for coming over here to Leaves for a quick read.
Thanks!
Thank YOU, Ellen Anne, for reading over here at 🌿Leaves. You are very welcome!
What a sad tale.... with just dessert for the Count. How many more of these stories are playing out today? Thank you for ringing the bell.
Ah, well, just reporting here on yet another miscarriage of justice, Wade. But beware of Mother Earth. She wins in the end.
Not the sort of thing I picture happening in Europe, where I believed they tend to value their heritage a bit more than where I grew up.

Deaf, indeed! We have such little power to change things. But we still have to use that little bit of power to keep up the struggle.
In this case, I am pro landslide.
Me, too.
Those poor villagers...
Robbed of their homes, their work and their history, they just had to keep going. Some battles cannot be won.
Both tears at my heart and tears from my heart.
Thanks, Gulch-Boy.
How sad. Even if the Count had been successful. As Janeen said so well - "humans are so disappointing at times."
Yet we are capable of so much goodness! We have to remember to watch for the goodness as we fight our small battles.
A sure bet, Sharron!
Thanks, Ms Yael!
Wow. This is great, and tragic. It’s a good reminder that Mother Nature, in her wisdom, is a better judge of character than humans.
I never thought of it that way, but, yes! You are right, J Curtis.

The beautiful Blackrock Dry Lake another sad example of desecration..
