Oh, I am sure you got into plenty of trouble in your long life, Yael, dive bar or no dive bar. Might want to keep that to yourself, ha ha ha! Glad you like old Willie. He still performs at age 93! Inspiration.
I don't go to bars anymore without my "handler", Erin. I have a story for the ages about the last time (maybe 20 years ago?) that I was left unsupervised with a buddy of mine in an Irish pub. It's all fun and games until someone pours a beer on someone's suede jacket. Trouble.
Oh, no! I will have fun, now, imagining the possible play-by-play scenarios on that event. Somehow I can’t picture you brawling physically. But then, what do I know? I CAN see Freedman and Wilsky duking it out with some Irish mugs.
brilliant! I shall adopt that song as my signature tune I think, because as a writer I have to live up to the general perception that all writers are basically egos on legs.
As for the attitude of the ladies in this story, it reminds me of my mum in her later years!
Three bars on slot machine. Winner! Another round ? In and out of a revolving door. Until I got to Santa Barbara on State Street walked in to an Irish pub. 12 hour’s later walked wildly to my motel. The rest of the story my 50 words of Saint Patrick’s Day.
Bar hopping, clubbing, or whatever you called it...had to stop when I saw my phone number with the words, "For a good time, call.." (Ha Ha). Good ol' Willie! His music spans generations of outlaws and heartaches. Thanks. for sharing. And I do remember trouble, but I keep my distance...
Just beginning to appreciate his voice. )) ) Migraine had me OFFFFF sound for years. There's spaces between now and you tempted me with these last two )))
Holy cow! The bars I went to with my friend back in Utah aren't even there anymore. And I'm sure as hell not going to bars here.
Meanwhile, I saw a video recently of Mac Davis and Kenny Rogers singing that song, but seeing Willie do it is priceless. Sweet Jesus, Willie in skin-tight blue jeans .... oh my eyes!!!!!
I once left my favourite hat in the (now long gone) Cadillac Lounge, on Queen St. West in Toronto, the front of which is recalled by your first photograph...
Great story, Kenneth. I admit I'd never heard of the Cadillac Lounge, but you know how it is, some photos just jump out and beg to prompt a story. YOUR photos do that for me all the time. I have lost track of where you are these days? In Canada? In Amsterdam?
Those were the good ol' days. But I have to say I have no desire to go back.
And Willie is an inspiration, not just in his music, but that he's still at it.
Thanks, RI, for reading my posts. I love to hear your comments!
If anyone can sum it up, Willie can. Cool post, Sharron.
🎸 ❤️
It's nice to reminisce. I usually remember it being better than it actually was. Nice story, Sharron. It struck a chord with a lot of readers.
Pure nostalgia for people our age. Right?
I must say, I skipped the Bar fun. So it was nice to hear of the experience one can have. Willie Nelson’s song is great.

Ha! What a great fifty-word story!
I went to a little dive bar about a month ago, ordered some food, and left with food poisoning. Ugh! I think I’ll steer clear for a while. 🤣
Yikes! Sorry to hear that! Getting food poisoning is not fun. And I know, because I had fun once!

You might be surprised. Long story.
I love surprises.
Love this, Sharron, and not just bc you use two of my favorite words: "dodgy" and "ambient"! I need to use them more often.
And the Willie Nelson song! I've never heard it--just wonderful!
HUGS
Good old Willie Nelson. He is 93 and still singing.
I think I skipped that phase in the traditional sense of "trouble" but I made up for it
That’s a story for another day, my friend. I would love to hear those memories.

The perfect song for you, handsome, I agree. As for your mom, we would have been great friends.

These is a story there somewhere, Rich. I’d love to hear it.
Over a Guinness and game of darts. 🎯
👍🏻

Ha ha ha 😂
Whoa! Takes me back to beer and peanut night at Tiny's! How did I ever graduate?
A rite of passage, Joan. Ha ha ha!
Got enough fingerprints on that guitar? ))))
That beaten up guitar looks as old and crusty as HE does. Cracked, missing a pick guard. He is just holding it for a prop, I think.🤭
Nah.. he is playing it... its worn to crumbs cuz its his favorite. Suits him.
He is 93 and just made an album playing “Trigger”last year. The Last Leaf, I think the album is called.
Just beginning to appreciate his voice. )) ) Migraine had me OFFFFF sound for years. There's spaces between now and you tempted me with these last two )))
Be careful girl! I wouldn’t want to be responsible for one of those major head-crackers. Eeeks!

What has been seen, cannot be unseen. Just saying.
