There were stacks of books on every horizontal surface – on tabletops, on chairs, like a library gone to hell. The couch had become a repository for so much flotsam, there was no place to sit.
I am bringing bits of Eizer and Eli out of the Bartle Clunes archive this next few weeks, just hoping to encourage new subscribers to check out the longer story. Some of them might have the time, you never know. Happy day to you, Linda.
Oh, thank you, Scott. Love and family -- we take it wherever we can find it, right? Their "alliance" does have quite a story. If you are ever in the mood for a longer read, you can find it from Chapter 1 right here https://sharronbassano.substack.com/s/bartle-clunes
Heartwarming, Sharron. Your description of the house and the yard create a vivid scene. I want to get in there and help them clean the place up, maybe find some hidden treasures. The relationship between the old man and the boy is a true study of the goodness of human nature.
You and I think alike about so many things, Jim. I believe I subconsciously gave Eizer such a big mess just so I COULD go in there and clean it out. See the next installment. Eizer and Eli form such a sweet, natural partnership. I gave them everything that is good. ( There is enough angst and meanness in the world already, right?) Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Thank you, sweetheart. I love the story of these two, myself. I gave them both the gift of love and family where it was most needed. I am happy you like it. ( And apropos of your story today, they have chickens!)
Eizer Griggs is a fine man. How'd he get in this condition? What's in the shambles of library, and why would he have one to begin with? I grew up with house library and got out of chores: "oh, you're reading. I'll do the dishes". Smart Mom right? My walls are lined with books. After all these years, I still don't know people who keep books, besides one. There's more to Eizer Griggs than meets the eye.
Well, darn it, I have to agree...but then I created the good man! Ha ha ha. Thanks, Kate, for sharing your thoughts on Eizer and on the power of books. Any subscriber who is interested in Eizer Grigg's full story can hop over to the Bartle Clunes archive ( top of the home page) and have a read! Get a cup of tea and find a cozy chair...
Thanks so much, Janice. I thought I would bring out three or four little chapters about Eizer and Eli. Not many readers go back to the beginning of the Bartle Clunes archive to find them. I hope my readers like them. Their relationship is my favorite part of the story.
Thank you, Bonita. I am so happy you take the time to sit and reflect on these little chapters. There are messages wound in them just for you, just like in the Tarot.
A very sweet relationship!

Another great story. I think this will be good for both of them.

Really liking this story and look forward to where it goes. - "a library gone to hell" - "an explosion of some sort". LOL.
I am so glad you like this story. James. You can read it from Chapter 1, if you like, here in the Bartle Clunes archive. https://sharronbassano.substack.com/s/bartle-clunes
It is a sweet, old-fashioned story. ( sort of like its author, ha ha h ha)
So, so beautiful, Sharron. I've got tears in my eyes and goosepimples over the rest of me - and actually I think my heart just flipped over.
"He had someone to tend to, a human being who needed him for the first time in his life."
Breathtaking.

It's so gorgeous - and I LOVE LOVE LOVE their chickens, Sharron! We're on the same wavelength today!!!!! 🤣

A story as precious and sweet as ever.

For me their relationship is as sweet and gentle as Bartle and Louvina's is.
Precious. Healing. Simple and Sacred. You are a Gift, Dear Friend, and You have a Gift. Deeply Grateful.

Hi Sharron, had to leave a space in my day for a settle down read! So many funny lines; I'm likin Mr Flounder and his new bud!
Thank you, Ron. I will post a couple more in the next two weeks. These two "boys" were made for each other. Literally.
