Such a poignant vignette. A true feel for steel inside the psyches of a pair of folks out at night. Alone yet staunch

Somehow, winters in Germany seem colder. That second cup of honeyed coffee sound real good.

Kaffe house clutch of coffee honey dripped drink of time waiting for jet lag and sleep to notice other late night people plying a trade. Like the rain drops pouring out from the window scenes.

Sent in my veriication code twice to make comment. Only readers who want to comment will see that. Are you getting wierd stuff to weed through?

Pigeons like music. All the people in those upstairs windows like it too. The musician is not alone, just not crowded. Double trolly rails look like cars would have a hard time, but there are some parked on the side.

I am sorry, Kate, that you have trouble getting in sometimes. I have no answer why it happens. Everything I do is the same. I DO know you may have trouble if you shift to a different device? I wish I could help.

No shift here for the last 30 years. Computer companies doing wierd things to their customers jerk at me again. Not happy about those. I'm glad to hear you are spared their tricks. Rental ad companies print and then refuse to print details.... until they get their "update" hundred bucks/mo. They do print pics, so customers are shifting to photo the contact info as .jpg and put it in with the room layout pics. Why can't they just SAY the contact info is "extra" to begin with? Ad useless without that. ~~~~magnolia tree still holding its buds in the snow so life is good, right? ))))

I say focus on the magnolias. Let the devices fix them selves...

I like a "slice of life" vignette like this from a place I've never been and likely never will. You have captured it like a snapshot.

It was a long time ago. This is the only image from Germany that remains in my head.

I can feel her brain struggling to convince her it's time to let me rest. I've had enough already. The honeyed kaffee is tasty, but it ain't workin'.

I took a "nap" at 3 pm. It was my first day on my first international trip. I woke up and the clock said 7:00. I didn't know if it was morning or evening. I had to ask the desk clerk. I'd never been jet-lagged before.

My first jet-lap experience was in Tel Aviv. I woke up, realized I was on the other side of the planet, and had a melt-down. You were probably much more sophisticated about your travels.

Pretty forlorn atmosphere. The rain is so soothing.

It was a melancholy moment exaggerated by jet-lag. That rain track I included is 10 hours long. You could fall asleep to it.

Oh, this is lovely - you've brought in all the senses here - flavours and colours and temperature, and all sorts.

I can certainly identify with 'the bitter taste of a German winter'! I studied in the far north of the country (almost Denmark) and due to my geographical challenges had had no idea before I'd got on the plane that northern Germany is waaaaay further north than the relatively mild south of England. I spent a large proportion of the money set aside for textbooks on a winter coat in the first week. Foolish child.

What a memorable time that was for you, Rebecca. I'll bet you had a lot of ups and downs. Ah, youth! We face so many challenges, but we are invincible! Right? No fear.

Let’s just say I’m not tempted to make a return visit any time soon! 🤣

As for fear - yes, good point, although I’ve always been afraid of EVERYTHING. Feelings and situations, mostly. I’m also extremely impulsive, though, which makes things rather…. let’s say ‘interesting’ on occasion.
