Sometimes erasing all traces of yesterday can be a good thing! And sometimes not. I think melancholy tends to creep in as we approach the end of our "one wild and precious life".
I've walked the beaches around and near Santa Cruz for years - they bring peace every time. My favorite is SeaBright Beach - because that's where the Walton Lighthouse is. We were nor related to that Walton but, we sure had fun with the name.
Right you are. Santa Cruz has a few hot days in August, but the central coast ( including San Francisco) is most often grey and cool. I see people wearing flip-flops, shorts and parkas. So funny!
I have a too long attention span, so I save up a bunch of your shorties until I have enough to finish a bag of Nacho Doritos while I binge read. I hope that’s okay.
I’m never disappointed in your 50 word stories. Quite to the contrary, I’m envious of brevity, because I seem to have inherited quite the opposite gene.
The Doritos are only for the nervous tick in my jaw and for their Qat-like narcotic effect that helps focus my too long attention span.
“Hometown” was perfect. Thank you for sharing! 🙏
Thank you, Justin. Some really lovely examples were submitted in the latest Fifties by the Fire!
👍!
Cool! Thanks James Ron.
"The receding tide erases all traces of yesterday."
Melancholy yet lovely.

That's the line that jumped out at me, too. Just love it!
Thank you, Scribbler!
Noisy picture ))) at the same time quiet. ))))
Noisy birds, noisy sea, quiet footsteps... Thanks Kate for always dropping in at 🍁Leaves!
Beautiful 🤩
Thanks so much Kim!
Oooh, I like it!
Thank you, Linda. I know you and your husband walk to the beach a lot, so you know how it feels...

Wow. Thanks, Janice. I learned something new about you! My little house is very near the lighthouse. A lovely place to walk.
Think of this - we both could have been walking on the beach at the same time and not known it.
Holy Cow! You are right!
I’ve only been to Santa Cruz beach a couple of times. I needed a jacket. 🥶

Jeeez, I hope I don' t let you down, Mr. S. At least you can count on the Doritos...

You know, I never thought an attention span could be too long!
'While seabirds startle the icy sky, ' liking that Sharron. Had to look up Santa Cruz and looks a good beach for those footprints! 🦶🦶
Thank you, Ron. Yes, SC is lovely this time of year. The tourists all go home in late September and we have the seaside all to ourselves...
Yes, a quiet beach town in the winter. 👍
So beautiful!
Thank you, Leanna, for stopping by to read at 🍁Leaves today! Welcome. I am glad you liked it.
Wow, Sharron, that last line is goosepimpling and beautiful! 👣
Thanks, my friend. I love taking part in Justin' challenges.
