Love this series Sharron. You have created a world that is at once exotic and familiar. Your descriptions are absolute poetry and the use of the journal entries provides great insight into the mind of a man adapting to an alien culture and language. Beautiful work Sharron.
Thank you for reading this longer piece, Jim. I appreciate the time commitment! Your reading of my first draft was monumentally encouraging to me. I trust your opinion.
Sorry. No recipes. Though I like the sound of squash bread... I am just in it for the romance.... Kathoc is a smart man who is now thwarted by being out of his element, but I can see him thriving and contributing to this place in which he has found himself. IF I could only write it...
Sharron, when I saw title of this post, I was instantly excited. It’s brilliant, and what an incredible addition you’ve written. The world and the characters have truly come to life. The customs, the culture, way of life...all of it. I’m hooked. I see a novel developing before my eyes, and I hope you keep expanding on this.
Wow! Thank you. Justin. I like this guy, Kathoc Bose. I do hope he speaks to me again. But he needs to learn their language so I can get some dialog going. No more licking of goats! Euw! I don't think I have the background to write true science fiction, though I have read ALL of Asimov, Bradbury and Heinlein. The grandaddies of the genre. We shall see.
This whole series has been wonderful Sharron. So much potential to become a longer work of fiction if you're so inclined, but each piece stands alone well, too. You should have confidence in your sci-fi abilities and consider entering this installment in the Lunar Awards. Can't hurt to give it a shot!!
Thanks so much, Meg. I am waiting to see if they come back to me. I hope they do! Can you point me in the direction of the Lunar Awards? I don't know how to find the entry.
Thanks for the recommendation, sweetheart! I am not sure if I qualify this time, but I will let Brian figure it out. BTW I have been reading See Dot Smile on Watt. Stayed up until 1:00 am last night mucking about with these hormonally-overwhelmed teens. Brings back memories. I remember feeling so SMART at 16. I wasn't.

Recipes? ))))

By the time you come up with the squash bread recipe, you'll have the rest of it. )))

You bet! Just give the rules a read, but I think if you submit this as a standalone story, you're okay!

Thank you so much for reading my book, Sharron.
Those beautiful kids are a hand/head/heartful for sure. 💜🙂
Best to you on the Lunar Awards. I hope to submit something as well. Just gotta write it first.
