Women never go alone to the Place of the Men, and yet, here she was. Waiting on the beach as the sun teetered on the horizon, Iz-lâ saw Kathoc Bose running down the tideline toward her.
Yup. First mention of the library in previous chapters, I knew he could read the books. )))) They've got some adventures ahead. Sounds to me like they are still on earth... many ahead of the time he remembers. Are the people from elsewhere after everything is gone... except the library. Or are they progressive improvements? Hardly matters. The others will soon find out why he is so odd. Lots and lots of space between your ears eh? )))))) a very good thing.
Yeah. Me too. Better to hold your "brilliants". I have no idea how this ends....it might take me a couple of weeks. I better get busy. Meanwhile, here is a little Frank Zappa for you, Jim. I don't know anyone else who would remember this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svdrAHn_LGo
I had forgotten what a fine guitar player Zappa was ( 1977!) He didn't have the passion of Hendrix or the soul of Santana, but he was darn good. If you were stoned, I mean. Um... so I am told.
No you'll never hear him mentioned in any list of the great guitar players. Just like Prince. But at least Zappa and the Mothers were immortalized in the song "Smoke on the Water." So, they got that goin for them.
Wow! Thank you! The first applause I ever had for my substack writing! I am posting those clapping hands on my calendar as inspiration. Thanks, Meg. Now all I need to do is come up with an ending...
Oh, thank you so much James. I have worked hard on it and it doesn't quite reach my hopes, but I do like the two characters. I hope I can finish the story with success. I am happy you are reading it, my friend. We entertain each other, don't we?
I am so glad to hear it, James. It is an unusual little book. The date, 1949, the foothill setting and the use of rural dialect, I think, set it slightly apart, in a quieter, kinder way. Thank you for sharing it with her.
Really well done, Sharron! I like how you’ve unraveled bits and pieces of Kathoc’s past through the story. I’m intrigued to see how it all ends! Can’t wait to see what happens in the final installment.
Thanks Justin for your interest in this story. It is a real departure for me, and I am very challenged to bring it to a close. Still trying to figure it out myself!
There's definitely another bit to this story. It looks like the library at Alexandria... I hope they've found the key before it all crumbles. They've made it fireproof, so there's hope.
Wow! You are really invested in this story, Kate! Thank you - that is what all fiction writers dream of! I have nearly completed my last chapter. I think you will not be able to predict the ending. I hope I can post it on Saturday.
Ooh, good ending!
Yes, thank you. The old cliff-hanger. Wish I knew how to get them off the cliff safely. It will come to me, I hope. Thanks for reading, Linda.

It IS a good thing, because the ending of this story has not presented itself to me yet... Thanks for the speculation, Kate. It helps!
Ah, the earth had been taken over by the machines. That could never happen right?
The library turns out to be a big surprise, a connection to earth. Brilliant!
Can't wait to read the conclusion. Beautifully written Sharron. Thanks for this.

Well, I've been intrigued by this story throughout, Sharron - and BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the next final chapter! 😊
Hmmm. Yes. Got any ideas? ha ha ha I have painted myself into a corner now.

I will miss Kathoc and Iz-la after the final part. It's a fine story, Sharron!.

: ) - Sharron, my wife is well into Bartle Clunes and liking it very much! I knew she would.
