Yes. And that is something Katy might have done. The last three months of her life she would not eat anything but ice cream. Making up for lost time, I believe.
Sweet little gems from a stellar woman. I would've loved to have her as my grandma or mama. How lucky you are. Thank you for sharing these bits of wisdom.
Judging from that photo of her, she looks like the kind of person I could have a good cackle with every day. Born too late, although my old friend, Norma, may have been my version of her in my life.
Your mother comes to life in your anecdotes and stories, Sharron. How wonderful to share that double gin and single tonic lemon with your mother and hear her stories. Thanks for sharing.
I bought what I thought was a lime Gatorade this week (which is my teetotaler’s version of a double gin, single tonic lime not lemon), but found it was cucumber plus lime. Never again.
I'm in! Thanks , David.
First 100 years are the hardest. After that you don’t give a damn. That’s when the double gin kicks in. Knocks you off your rocker.
That's exactly so!
Love your Mama's lessons, Sharron!
Thank you, James Ron. We all still think of her every day.
I knew I liked her )))) Buttered the last slice of cake and finished off the icecream to go with it. Now for some breakfast.

Ice cream has protein and sugar... the stuff that other food turns into, just already done. Super for mental health as well. ))
Beautiful piece of writing Sharron. Golden words.
Thanks, handsome. Glad you found a few words to your liking there.
Still a sweet story on my second reading...
Thank you Ms Brown, for the second look!
I never get tired of Mama’s stories. They warm my heart, and give me hope! Thank you for keeping them alive, Sharron!
We miss the old gal, don't we... and your dear old mom, too. They died too soon.
Words of wisdom from a very wise lady.
I love these life lessons from Katy. And I love the picture of her, wise yet still impish.
But I just can't see the lemon. Sorry, but it's gotta be lime. But there I go correcting people (sorry mama Katy.)
Thanks Jim. That is one of. my favorite snapshots of Katy. She does look a little devilish.

She would have really liked you, Sue, and would have had you over for drinks often, I have no doubt.

You are the luckiest to have had such a wise mum.
I knew absolutely unconditional love from her my whole life. Lucky, indeed! Thank you, Yael.
