A 100-word story inspired by a photo from Terry Freedman
Perfect! All the pathos and meaning in such a short writing.
Thanks, Linda. This short form surprises me sometimes.
O, yes! How long you'll keep forgiving? There's a limit to everything... a fact that I ignored many times to my grief.
I am sure most of us have similar personal tales, AT. Some of us just have trouble seeing the limit.
... so true....
That's got to be very expensive. Toxic: both the drink and the drinker. He signed up for more abuse, so maybe he's happy or just stupid.
Or...maybe he made a vow, for better or worse, and is sticking to it? He still has some kind of hope. Who knows?
Truth.
There's a lot said in your story, Sharron.... and a lot between the lines. I love the ending.
Thank you, Heather. Yes. He is not ready to give up on her.... yet.
This is sad. Too many people are living in vain by not giving up. Been there.
Yes, Kristi. Tragic for all parties. I lived with alcoholism as a child.
What a quandary he finds himself in. Well done, Sharron!
A well-known story, James. When to keep a promise? When to quit? Almost like having to put down a beloved pet... so hard to make the leap.
Too drunk to even walk home. That’s drunk!
In my long long life, yes, I have experienced too drunk to walk home. I believe it was 1972.
A sad tale in so few words. The man has more patience than I could ever muster. Loved the last line.
He made a marriage promise and is sticking to it? OR maybe he is her father..?
Amazing to see my pic used as the inspiration for a story, especially one as moving as this. Thank you!
Heartbreakingly and beautifully told, Sharron. You've captured his pain and I feel it. xo
Another fabulous story, Sharron - I'm really enjoying your collaboration with Terry. Great work!
