OMG. Nope not been there. HOpe to never be. Had a waking nightmare this week. Trash hauler jumped bill by 60 bucks. Can't trust them anymore to not just keep doing that. Over 300/mo now. Cancel 3yr contract late by 10 days. Buy-out was over 2000 bucks. New co, same deal 75/mo. Break even this year. Nightmare over. Sending flowers for your night-brain. Hugses.
Yes, I know exactly where this recurring nightmare comes from. I LOVED my career -- it was great fun and I was quuite successful at it. But I had no idea how stressful my work actually was until I began having these dreams over and over of getting out just in time and just barely saving myself... ha ha ha
Thank you, Jill. I felt pretty sure a lot of my readers would relate to this. I think all of us have recurring nightmares, and most of us know where they come from.
Oooo, a good scary one. Amazing scene setting and tension. It reminds me of a recurring nightmare that I had as a kid where I was running away from something/someone but my feet kept bouncing off the ground, like trying to run in a swimming pool.
Oooo yes. Trying to get those feet to move.! I know! They stay stubbornly frozen or ineffectual. What the heck are we all trying to escape from and why are we being impeded?
I agree with you on both points. Over and over I dream I show up to lecture in front of 200 teachers and am wearing only a blouse.... yeeeks! As far as Trump is concerned, sorry, but I am just waiting for a more professional marksman... but please don;t tell anyone I said that.
Oh. My. God. I think I’m sleeping with the light on tonight…that’s what Stephen King does, and he’s still alive. This is truly the stuff of nightmares, Sharron!
I have alligators chasing me and my grandson. Now I've got two kids to wrangle and the white van with two greedy men inside watch us as we play in the park. You're not alone in this dream. There's always a predator. Only the setting changes. Whew!
Wow Sharron, that dream is terrible just once, let alone on repeat! My scary dream is always some big paper I have to write, and I realize it's due tomorrow. (But there's always the night shift!)
Nightmares. Repeat performances f unresolved issues. Sometimes they will end as suddenly as they began. Remember you are the dreamer. Take control. If you are falling, tell yourself to fly. I’ve done it for years after telling myself I want to remember my dreams. Somedays, I leave the body. Always head to the mountains through chasms and deserts and find peace. Stay calm.
This perfectly captures the horror of the recurring nightmare, Sharron. I really enjoyed it and can relate.
I’ve never slept well and often have night terrors. Previously it was one where I was drowning in a swimming pool I used to go as a child but the more recent one is it’s as if I woken up in the dark but don’t recognise where I am before the room begins to expand in size and furniture and doorways shift out of place. That one is a whole lot of fun 🙄😁
Euw! Sounds like Alice in Wonderland. And drowning! Yikes. I'll bet you wake up gulping for air. I suspect that a lot of people have these dreaded dreams. I am sorry for it. We need our rest. I was hoping I would outgrow them, but haven;t so far.

Well, that is nightmare enough if you ask me, Kate. Yikes.
Pretty scary! Good description.
Thank you, Linda. I was attempting to break a few boundaries here.
You did it.
Ha ha ha
.. Rest Assured - that it ain’t just YOU .. ! ..
.. any idea where this ‘dark nightmare stuff comes from ! (deep in yer ‘creative lair ?)

We have been in similar disgruntled situations, some worse and , for me one real!

Just love all your thought provoking stories. Thank you!
Golly, Marcia! Thank you so much. I appreciate your sweet comment and I am glad you find something you like over here in the 🌿 Leaves corner.

My worst recurring nightmare was going on stage as a lead on opening night and not knowing any of my lines.
My worst living nightmare may be the election in November. We won't go there.
I sure was in your nightmare, Sharron. Vividly. Love your writing. You make it so real.

Isn't it amazing how incompetent these shooters are? Gotta wonder why.
Everything is fake these days. Everything except family.
It would make me not want to go to bed at night.
Right you are. Or maybe sleep with the light on...
I would hate to know I'd go through that night after night. My nightmares like to surprise me, but create anxiety nonetheless.
You just have to wonder what it is in our brain, what incident in our lives causes us to have these dreams over and over...
I used to get recurring nightmares but they have stopped. It's been years.

Yes.I have survived this dream for over thirty years. I am pretty sure we are all deviled in our sleep from time to time. Thanks Sharon!
You mean you are still having this dream? Ick!
Ah yes. one of many. ha ha ha

I wonder if it is just women who have these fear of predator dreams or if men do too? I will take survey
Interesting question. I hope you get some good answers.

Ha! Just as scary!

Good thinking! Thanks, Richard.

Yeah. I’m the same. Must be going on over 40 years now and shows no sign of stopping. At least it leads to story ideas, I suppose 🤔
Ha ha ha. Yes, there is always that! I will not confess how many of my fictions have started out as weird dreams.
Early spooky season vibes! Nice job, Sharron.
Thanks Amy, for your comment and for just reading my stuff. I know you have a lot of subscriptions , so thanks for taking time out for 🌿Leaves today!
I enjoy ALL your writing!
Is it October already? That was wonderfully creepy!
Thank you, John. I was aiming for creepy. Jumping the gun on the season...
