Possession is Ray’s law. Mine. He hasn’t found mocking bird’s nest. Yet.

Ray is suffering from chronic sloth. In fact, he may be part sloth....

If Ray could climb trees there’d be a problem falling asleep and footprints the ground.

Raymond can climb trees. Confidently. Getting down, however, is another matter altogether.

Don’t let him make a nest.

Now that Hansel is THE only cat, (sniff) he owns EVERY thing. ... but still no access to the library. Marking not allowed on rare technical books.

RE: hostile bird:

Git 'em CAt! they're delicious and first on your menu. God Said. You don't have to eat all the feathers, but the rest is organically grown, free range, no meds, no legal owner. ))) Yours ))) YUM )))

He has my permission, but critters on the wing take so much energy to catch. He prefers gophers, voles and crickets. Doesn't know what he's missing.

None of mine ever at a gopher. Voles got lined up on the garden walk as trophies. Crickets? Fun to chase and kick around but not for eating either. MIce however ))))) Chipmunks tasty but bad for digestion. (too much acorns) Only had one of multi-many that liked skyraisins. Birds first on the list. Lots of good meat. (sky chicken). Rarely rabbit. Squirrel!! o my!!!! Prime best of the best, but way fast.

That mockingbird or one of its friends spends time over here on this side of the bay. It's always ready to mess with the cat. Clearly, that bird doesn't understand that its place is to serve the cat, like everything and everyone else. Cat looks to me as if I'm supposed to do something about that pesky thing.

I believe Harper Lee wrote a definitive guide book for you, Ron, To Kill A Mockingbird?

I'm going to read that book, yet. Just finished "The Heart is a lonely Hunter."

Oh poor Raymond! That looks awful. And from personal experience with a Steller's jay nesting in a tree in a parking lot, I can attest that when a bird dives into you like that, IT HURTS!

Oh he has a cat door and can come in and out at any time. He's okay. Just mad. Thanks!

Yes! On the darkest of days Raymond is a never-ending source of distraction and amusement. It is good the three of them have each other and that they speak the same language. Thanks for reading, and for YOUR fine writings.

King Raymond! Cats around my house like to eat white wing doves. They don't leave anything behind except the feathers.

Those doves! Notoriously slow and trusting. I used to leave my glass sliding door open and sometimes they would just walk right in and have a look around.

Couldn't have done better if he'd tried. I told my boy that when I am dead I want him to adopt a cat and name her Mom. So he would think of me every day...

You are a master putting-it-all-togetherer: the video clips, photos length of your writing ✍️ or number of words. Less IS more… I had better quit writing now or it will become too much More!

Thank you, Jill for noticing these little strategies. I suspect that the online reader's attention span is quite short. And I believe a "multi-sensory" approach helps to keep readers tuned in - words, pictures, music, voice-overs, videos, etc. I'm still seeking the magic formula.

I know how to add youtube videos, voice-overs, links, gallery photos. So much more I haven't figured out yet, but if you have questions about those things, please feel free to ask. Truly. I may be able to give you step by step help?

Oh, yeah. Ray is high-maintenance, too. A real knuckle-head. (Wait... is that an expression used in England?)

Expand full comment

I don’t think I’ve ever heard it used in British English, but I know it well from US films and TV. Over here we might say ‘wally’ or ‘idiot’ - or, if we’re feeling creative, ‘nincompoop’. x

I like "wally". I've never heard it before, but it has that wonderful dopey quality. Then there is goofball and numb-nuts . So many epithets, so little time.

EXACTLY that - I think dopiness is inherent in the name ‘wally’! Love it!
