Good wisdom in 50 words! We all have choices to make. Sometimes we may need more than 9!

Love the short sentences - so fitting for where he is on his path.

I think he could use a break -- maybe a stay on a small rural property in Indiana. Back to the land.

Leaves is more unpredictable than the daily news for sure. Fan-cats-tic from a cat mama.

You know... you are right! A little memoir, a silly cat, a travel tale, a 50-word foolishness. What other stuff is rolling around in our brains that needs to be let out, I wonder?

Another 50-word hit, Sharron. Love the nostalgia you invoke with those photos. Hugs!

Thanks, Connie. I like cats. I don't have one, but I do know how they work...

Good one, Sharron! "Fast food and bad coffee." I can taste it - you piqued my interest right away. : )

Short and sweet. There is always time for one more 50-word story, right?

Hahahah!!!! Fantastic!!! Kitties are survivors!!!

I like the way their brains work. I mean, I don't KNOW how they work, but I like it. You might need a replacement cat, AT? One to warm your lap and look into your eyes with gratitude. I remember how good it feels.

I wish... but my current "housing" conditions are prohibitive (long sad story). I left two beautiful loving cats in Seattle and I know nothing about their current condition. Yet another jab by my once nearest-and-dearest (sigh).

A cat that drinks coffee? Now I’ve seen everything!😹

I don't know... I think the fact that he takes the red-eye would be more surprising. I had a cat who turned up his nose at canned tuna, but loved cantaloupe.

Cat-aloupe!😹

Motel 9 it is! Thanks JMud

I think I would hate that job also.

Ooooo. You sure would. Stick with writing stories that are totally bonkers. Mark. I think it may be keeping you stable...

Its a looooonnnnnggggg walk even for a determined cat. OPen up another can of treats and schedule a couple of hours of pets every day. That should fix it. ))

Such a flight of fancy based on that great photo. I love it, sent it to my friend who is the ultimate cat lover 😍

Thank you, Karen, for reading my silly cat story. I have a great affection for cats and can imagine them in many bizarre situations. Including Raymond's Pawdcast, which might make you smile. https://sharronbassano.substack.com/p/pawed-cast-up-all-night-with-raymond

I feel embarrassed that Raymond’s life is so much more interesting than mine! 😂😱 What an intellectual adorable mischievous assertive cat!

Ha ha ha! Thank you, Karen. There are a few more stories about Raymond on 🍁Leaves. He is quite a trickster. Just type in CAT in the search box on my home page, and you will find them. Happy day to you.

Thank you!! I will! Btw a woman I met decades ago, in a poetry writing class in college, is a professor of writing at San Jose state, in Santa Cruz. What is in the water out there that makes writing flow in peoples’ veins and brains? 😍😊

Ummm. You wouldn't want to know, Karen. SC has been weird since 1969. And proud of it.

Haha 😂😅

Her name is Neli Moody. She was an amazing poet in college, and I’m sure her poetry is exponentially even more amazing now. I’m not in touch with her but her poems from creative writing class in 1973 live in my brain and soul and emotions.

Okay! I will see if I can find her. Thanks

I feel that Marvin is a complicated soul, Sharron. Absolutely brilliant writing, as always!

Not too sure about that brilliant part, but I sure am glad you find time in your busy day to read my goofy stories.

Oi! 'Brilliant' was a very well-chosen word, I'll have you know! 😘 I love your stories, Sharron. xxx

You inspired me to try writing a story in a few sentences, I’d never tried it. But mine took a negative spin. I’d rather read yours about cats! 😊

Story in Four Sentences

She ended our decade-long friendship

with one sentence…

“I cannot overcome my feeling of being superior to you.”

It was liberating, in the harsh light of truth, to see the extent of her unkindness and her ego.

I tried hard not to feel superior, as I saw.

"“I cannot overcome my feeling of being superior to you.” What a sentence! Liberating, indeed. Finally they can walk away from an apparently toxic relationship. You told a whole story here, Karen. Nice work! Thanks for sharing it with me.

Wow! I really value your praise, thanks!

(It wasn’t creative thought, though, it was an actual conversation with an (ex) friend.😅 I just challenged a friend of mine to write a four-sentence story. He’s such a loquacious person, I see this challenge as therapy 😂

Stories are EVERYWHERE, Karen! Writing within a limit, e.g. 50-word stories or four-sentence stories, give us practice in paring back to the absolute essence of what we want to say. Harder than it sounds. You have a good start.
