This landscape’s bare and silent now, diminished by the folly of man.
The rock, the grass, now touched only by wind.
No birds in flight, no skitter of rodents, no slither of snakes.
As the cloud approaches, I wonder — what have we done?
I really don’t understand this world anymore.
