How old do you believe the Reinassance Lace in your article is? How does something so delicate and fine last so long?

Renaissance lace was first made in the mid-1800s. The name refers to a rediscovery or revival of Italian motifs and patterns from the Renaissance period. So, it would be coinciding with the Victorian Era. Lots and lots of examples of laces from that era are well preserved, thank goodness!

I'm in awe of the women who worked with thread throughout the centuries, but also did so with such precision. Thank you Sharron!

Me, too. My teacher keeps trying to put bobbins into my hands. I would last 10 minutes. Such fine attention to detail seems impossible to me. Would YOU ever try to make lace?
