Hey neighbor. Gotta little something for me? I see a social club forming, but would you share your picture window vista? It’s 5 o’clock somewhere. Care for a brew? Age makes no difference in the Nash Rambler mind’s backseat.
I mentioned him in my ‘Turks Grift ‘storyline notes but had the decency when creating my Character ‘Charlie Sad’mon - to at least have a credible ‘stand-in named ‘Mike - an actual ‘retired Hard Hat’ underwater demolitions diver.. To say you’d ’like Mike.. haha.. 🦎🏴☠️🤿
seems i can’t reply - inc a pic .. but ‘Mike is a ‘west coast treasure we plan to catch up with next June.. TCI - Club Med Turkoise.. Am leery of ‘blowing his cover..’ haha !
Due to my current algorithmic invisibility (invincibility ?) it’s my belief that ‘Not A Single Substack Soul’ has actually attempted a rather simple but potentially enjoyable ‘hypermedia experience.. along with a ‘taste of Turks & Caicos Islands..
Ha ha ha . You know I actually had a dedication at the top of this story, "to Meg Oolders, the Queen of Steam". I should have left it there, as I felt like I was channeling you. Oolders "lite", if you will. It will take more practice, obviously. Meg Oolders would NOT have added that last line.
Oh... all right then! But I have found over the last two years, that if I am not satisfied with my stories it is often because I have added one line too many at the end. I have this tendency to want to explain or wrap things up neatly. Not the best idea. I am learning.
You've convinced me that every woman with gray hair should write a story like this. We comprise the mighty second and third wave of feminism and have earned the right to. While some would frown on such transparent ogling and 'sexist' comments about hunky hubba-hubba studs like 'Will', citing examples of 'double standards' in a tone of righteous indignation, I don't care.
I've witnessed for instance, on more than one occasion, a group of five or so young, shirtless men go at a garden cleanup with great gusto. Young, viral, Santa Cruz surfers no less. I was texting my sister the entire time. I may have sent her pics too. This happened more than once.
Women like to look at men too. And now that we are older and men don't tend to look back at us the way they used to, we have a different lens.
Gray-haired ladies...Sharron has the right idea. Thanks again Sharron, you had me laughing, and I loved the voice-over.
Ah, I like you immediately, Ellen. Considering the size of the Universe and how infinitesimal we all are, how much can it matter how people judge us? We'll be dead soon and beyond reproach. Thanks for reading this stuff.
Ah, the heart of an old lady holds the remains of passion not given and always looking for a recipient.
I'm currently delighting in the romance and delicious eye-candy of "The Young Riders," a TV western from 1989. Even Anthony Zerbe, who is now 89, tweaks my soul with that rapacious mouth of his. And he's old enough to be my ... well ......
I KNOW! Sorry.... At times there is someone inside my head I scarcely recognize. But I let her out. If not now, when? Thanks for understanding. ha ha ha. She's in YOU , too. (Sorry Jim.)
Sssst... Hot one, Sharron! My computer screen was melting! I do love it when you jump over the line a bit! Very nice work. The way you wrote this, you hardly needed a picture....but it is a VERY nice one!
You make me laugh. Hell, Sharon -- we are old, but we are not dead yet! In the famous words of Monty Python, "I'm feeling much better now." Have to release these things from my brain or I will spontaneously combust.
Yes, well, age has diminished me a lot, Ken, but the imagination still quickly runs every which way, as it always has. I am grateful for that, as, I am sure, are you.

Age makes no difference -- in the head and in the heart, that's for sure.
.. let me guess.. you were watching Brad Pitt in ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood ?
Ooooh. No I wasn't, but thanks for the recommendation! I was thinking of Jon Bon Jovi in Moonlight and Valentino ( 1995). ha ha ha
Brad is 60+ .. life just ain’t fair .. sometimes

Hah! No doubt. I am old, but the fantasies never abate.

Cute!
I appreciated the comments from the writing group!
Very nice, Sharron! I was half expecting you to light up a cigarette. : ) Very cool Jeff Beck.
Whew! I KNOW, right?
Why I inflict this stuff on myself and my readers, I do not know.
🔥🔥🔥🥵

No. But I might have added a line about being old enough to be his mother! Appreciate the dedication. Even if it didn't make it to print. 😉

okay. I am editing it right now
😉
Leaving the Florida girls trip and entertaining the women now, huh? This story seems like a bit more than imagination. Fun!
You think?
Thank you Sharron.

PS. I love it that your autocorrect inserted "viral" in place of "virile". The thought of young, shirtless men as being viral just tickles me.
Geez. I didn't even notice the auto-correct error. I like it too!
Very neighborly employment and enjoyments
Now you're talking!

Well, ahem, yes. Thanks for the recommendation - I will check out those young riders right now.
😁
I watched the first two episodes. That is all my heart can take. By the way, I have dibs on the sheriff.
"I think it’s curious that his name is an auxiliary verb — Will. I find myself wondering … will what?"
This really made me smile, Sharron.
That’s because you love words as much as I do, Nathan. Thank you.
You convinced me. You just want to be a good neighbour.😉
Do I ever!
Sharron!!!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW! Sorry.... At times there is someone inside my head I scarcely recognize. But I let her out. If not now, when? Thanks for understanding. ha ha ha. She's in YOU , too. (Sorry Jim.)
LOL! And gosh, yes, you might be right!!!!!!!

Cute story. Imagination run wild. A good handy man is hard to find. Most of the ones I use are retired.
Yes, well, age has diminished me a lot, Ken, but the imagination still quickly runs every which way, as it always has. I am grateful for that, as, I am sure, are you.
My goodness. That was fun from beginning to end!
Thanks. On reflection, I should have left off the last line. It threw water on the fire…
