Like some of the other readers, I don't DO water I can't see through... and even then there's major questions. Who knows what lurks below those leaves. Nope. Not for me. There is only one bathtub in my building and I moved out of that apartment. Big sigh of relief for stone shower.
Done in by the murk, the unseen! I would not take you as a man with a fear of the unknown, James Ron, but slimy weeds, muddy water? I get it. I might be persuaded to wade into that mud on a dare ... or a bribe... or if the naked person waiting for me was Tom Hiddleston.
Ha ha! I'm not brave, Sharron. I've found myself swimming alongside water moccasins in just such lily covered waters. And alligators love the cover it provides. These are butt puckering moments I've not forgotten. Now that I'm not as naive as I once was I might take calculated risks but, no, I'm not brave. : )
Water lily a magnet that attracts the senses and her leaves hide the dream of hidden treasures in the depths of the stream .
Thank you. I loved this photograph, too.
Ick. I wouldn’t get in that water.
Just enjoy the scene. Don’t have to get wet.
Hah. Not even if she invited you to join her....?
Perfecto!
Yes. I changed it. I very rarely look for rhyme, as you know.
It's just my opinion, but if it doesn't rhyme, it's not really poetry.
Ha ha ha. Very funny, Thomas!
Enjoyed this one Sharron. Very nice. - Jim
A departure - not only in genre, but in religious referents. You will rarely see either at Leaves! Not sure what got into me.
It stood out to me, but the feel of this poem is still very 'you', Sharron. xxx
So beautiful. Your words sing to us.
Thanks, Wade. Something different this morning. Not sure how successful it was.
It's certainly successful.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Kim!
Beautiful, Sharron! And thanks for the mention, my friend.
Thanks for the prompt! I took it someplace odd. But I loved the found photo.
Well drawn pic ))))

Darn it. I should have sent a warning to you before posting, Kate! I know you have an aversion to water over 3" deep. Sorry
))) No need for warning. Its dry here. ))))
Very nice, Sharron! Idyllic, for sure. But I'm with T.D., Kate, and Richard on this one. : )

Swimming with snakes and alligators!? Wait... I better rethink this...
I love it Sharron. Beautifully done.
Had you seen this in some other context, you would not have recognized it as mine, though. Traditional rhyming? References to god? I think not.
Lovelly, Sharron! Love the rhythm and imagery here. Great photo you've included. XOXO
Thanks CJ! Channeling my inner Edna St Vincent Millay. ha ha ha
Ya Baha-u-llah Abha!
Right back at you, friend.
Inspired poetry, Sharron. I loved it.
Thank you, KC. I rarely try rhymed poetry. I loved the photo, though. Thanks for reading!
Oh, this is lovely, Sharron.
Thank you, sweet girl.
Serene and Sweet...Sacred...
Thank you, my friend.
