Every ride I take with you on the metro bus brings me closer to a now moment where life has entered a transitional stage, a wagon train that swallows whole neighborhoods of migrations cross country looking for Eldorado. In this case someone with a camera phone/radio and revolver attached to their hip like a line star cowboy. Love taking the bus. Just between us, I have secretly stashed a get out of jail monopoly card in my pocket.
Just noticed my Tshirt has silver sparklies on the front. Not as flashy as sequins or gems, just enough for "not plain". Rain coming today, so I'll be out edging the sidewalks (first time in 30 years) so I'll have my workout before noon. No busses here. No taxis either. Did see a hospital transport van at the grocery parking lot. No number on the side to call for it, so mirage for sure.
Thanks for the ride, Sharron! Always a pleasure. "It is hard to predict what will become of these children." - In 30 years these cellphones have changed us from having outgoing natures to an incoming one, the world at our fingertips, instead of one to explore on our own.
Your final point is well taken , IMO The money paid to sports figures is outrageous The baseball Ohtoni gets paid "$2 million annual salaries and $68 million deferred each year without interest to be paid in $68 million installments between 2034 and 2043 I could fund a school for children living in poverty instead or a hospital for people who couldn't afford insurance with that kind of money.
My son ( God bless him) explained the big salaries to me. Evidently, these highly paid sports "heroes" bring in billions of dollars in ticket sales that build stadiums, etc. So they deserve a big share of the profits. When he explained it, it made sense. But I am not so sure...
Your Metro stories are always funny. Thank you, Sharron. Every time I read one of these, I think of Larry Cramblett, who drove a Santa Cruz Metro bus. He didn't have your sense of humor about it, though. He wasn't happy until he sat up to his piano.
Hah! Thank you, Yael for jumping on the bus with me today. There are so many stories out there in mass transit. I don't pretend to know what is going on in people's lives. I have a big imagination, but when I am on the bus, I only write what I see.
There's always some incident on your bus rides. The clipped mirror and then the cards to be filled in by passengers - how weird. You're lucky they didn't declare the bus unsafe to drive without the mirror and force everyone off to wait an hour for a replacement vehicle!
Yikes! I know. I was already calculating whether it would be faster to just walk home. But it was only ten minutes. I think the driver may have rigged the mirror back to its position, some how, not sure.
Thanks, Susan. And that was just one trip out! There are a lot of stories out there! I KNOW you are having a great day today. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. ( I, myself, would be out dancing in the street!)
I do so love these, Sharron, they make me chuckle. But this one also has some powerful messages and concerns with in. A plane of non-existence, indeed. It saddens me how much I see it everywhere.
Do you take notes as you ride, or does it all stay within the mind?
I was all in for your 11am Margarita! What a shame the barman didn't deliver.
Children addicted to their phones. Some people do care, do fear the consequences, but "resistance is futile" as we learned on Startrek. I do jot down a few words like "sparkle hat", "yellow dog" "tibetan monks" "kids/"phones", just to jog my memory. The details seem to stay in my head, though. As far as the margarita goes, I was sorely disappointed, but because it was so early in the day, I was too embarrassed to make a scene..
I LOVE riding on the bus with you, Sharron. The more I do, the more I'm tempted to start hopping on a bus now and then (or a train--I miss riding on a train). I don't know, however, that I'm as observant as you are or perhaps as creatively astute to ID people to feature in this wonderful stories. Keep them coming! xo. P.S. "plane of non-existence" indeed!
Your insights into the lives of your fellow passengers are absolutely wonderful, Sharron. Thank you for bringing me along on another fun ride on the metro bus! I LOVE this series SO MUCH!
Oh my God, Sharron! So funny! You do have a great eye for finding the humor in these bus rides! Makes me want to go for a ride….but I think I’m safer reading about your bus trips…and I do mean “trips”!

Good planning, Richard. I would like to have one of those cards. I might need it after November 5.

Ah.... rural Indiana. It has its charms, that's for sure! Lack of public transportation is not one of them.

Yes, I agree. Who knows where it will end? Does anyone even care? You and I, my friend, will not have to worry about it.
You have such powers of observation and a wonderful way of generating our interest thru your words…. Thank you!
Thanks for hopping on the bus again, neighbor.

It does make sense - I guess my priorities are just different.
Mine, too.
Love these stories!
Thanks, Linda.

Thank you, Sue. I just calls 'em as I sees 'em.... it is a goofy world around here.
Shout out to to the bus driver, amateur psychologist and all around chill dude. Love these rides Sharron!
He was definitely a cool guy. Thanks for taking another ride on the Metro with me, Jim.
Love your bus rides❤️

I really enjoy these bus rides. You make it so real, you can almost smell it. Thanks!
Wow, Terri! Thank you so much for your comment. I am glad I could get you on that bus!
