How I wish I'd had more time to spend in Italy. Venice was beautiful. Would have loved to explore the canals. I remember a cafe at the Piazza San Marco. Perfect for people watching. Thanks, Sharron!
Absolutely gorgeous, Sharron, from the pigeon in the fountain, through the assessment of the tourists right through to the stunning exploration of Venetian art. A terrific read - thank you!
You are right about American tourists. They believe they are invisible and can do and say whatever they wish. When groups were divided by nationality, I made sure to be in another. Seated in theater in front of a pair of US men, I had to turn around and tell them sternly to "behave". They were surprised to be discovered, but did indeed settle down. Yes I have left Indiana. Not likely to again ))

Thanks for sharing your adventure, James. It is one of my favorite places on earth. Winter is best.
I have never been to Italy and will probably never get there, but your articles have introduced me so nicely. Thank you for that.
We are both armchair travelers now Janice. And that has its charms as well. Thanks for reading!

Wow, I had the same reaction to Body of Christ Between Two Angels. What a painting...

Oh good! Glad to hear it, Bert! I hope you get back there again someday.
