I danced once with Bill, once with Dan. 30 years with each. Can't type anymore.

Love the metaphor. Quite a commitment, Kate! Something more to be proud of.

You really know how to make fun and family come together and alive!

Very smart to tell how long the read is as it lets me start when I have the time to enjoy.

Thanks. Yes, I thought adding the reading time was a good idea. Not sure, but in this era of very short attention spans, readers want to know how much of a commitment they are making!

Terrific, Sharron, expecially the line, "on Sunday, I worship only at the temple of Baskin-Robbins." A couple years ago BR (which I, sadly, no longer frequent) briefly had a delicious flavor called "Alien..." something.

Thanks CJ. What's your name?

My name? Do you mean my writerly name? Birth name? Fussy name?

I can stick to CJ if you like. It is the only hint you give.

Hmmmmm, aren't you being mysterious, Sharron. There're other names I've been called, though most are not fit to be in print! :D

So good that a little DNA, and the want to connect, is enough! And cool that you can get together as often as you do. Good one, Sharron.

Thanks so much James Ron. This piece is mostly fiction, but I have been known to fall in love with the characters I create. ( In fact one of my longest romances is with a man who exists only in my head... )

Beautiful, Sharron! Sometimes it's our differences that make for our best connections. A lovely piece.

Thanks again, Lost-Girl!

I believe!

Fiction, non-fiction....friction, non-friction....those things all seem to be mixed up in this lovely piece. I'm tapping my toes right now.

Mostly fiction. But I LOVE the idea of writing Friction. I think my little story, The Room might come under that category.

I enjoyed this Sharron. When people make an effort, they will usually find common ground. A good life lesson. Life is short. Don't waste time on differences.

Yes. It is always a waste of time trying to change people's minds. Minds rarely change - especially uneducated ones. I am ta strong defender of everyone's right to be wrong! ha ha ha

Those connections are so special. It would seem that you unconditionally accept each other -overlooking the differences and focusing on the similarities.

Ah, Janice. As I mentioned at the top of the page, this is fiction. I have THREE crusty old uncles that I rolled up into one for my story. The events are true, but the character is actually three in one. I hope that doesn't disappoint you! However, we do all show great respect for each other - at least in public! ha ha ha

True and at the same time the point is well-taken.

Vive la difference!

Very relatable (dancing is always good for connecting) and delightful

Thanks, M'Lord. This fabricated story is based on a lot of my family members rolled up into one "uncle". Glad you liked it! Now... get busy writing! Time's a wastin' ! Ever thought of writing a 50-word piece for Justin Deming's Fifties by the Fire? One starts again this afternoon... https://alongthehudson.substack.com/p/other-side ( bottom of the page.)
