We must meet somewhere in the middle. I’ll remember you ate my food bowl. I’ll put a fur ball in yours. See how you swallow that food so fast. Believe me I like dogs. But I’n a cat person.
I, myself, have never lived with a dog, Kim, but I have watched a lot of them and I love (and sort of understand) their funny behavior. One thing I know for sure is that they are quite loyal!
Either way, it sounds beautiful to be loved in the way dogs love their masters. If only they didn't shed, drool, bark, drag in dirt... ha ha ha. I love OTHER PEOPLE'S dogs.
Dog's point of view is wonderful...I think I read a book from a dog's point of view and it surprised me how much I loved it. At first I wanted to put it down, but never did since it had so much to teach me. AND I'm a cat person: although no pets now because I love to simply be close to the birds, foxes, deer (12! in the yard this morning), squirrels, of all kinds. They get along so well. And are a loose, predatory and not-so-predatory community, especially when the ravens and hawks appear. Not only that, but the opossums and raccoons eat all the leftovers which I set out in a "compost" pile far away, and there is NEVER a single bone or peel of anything left!
Such beautiful caring for how the interplay among species works. And dogs? Yup! Their senses are protective and loyal as all get out. And intelligence-- superb!
My pleasure, kid. Glad you liked it. Your comment could be worked into a very entertaining Jillfulness post of your own about your backyard visitors. Sharon at the Gopher Farm does that. She, too, has quite a menagerie of feral animals putting on a daily show.
Great perspective, Sharron! I grew up with dogs around me, and this is right on! I don’t know who said it, but the quote is true, “If only I could be the person my dog thinks I am.”
A very good, and timely post. Thanks for reposting, Sharron. I'm going to read this to my 1-1/2 year old pup. She is clearly unclear on some of the concepts. : )
I've never had a dog, either. But I do like some dogs -- they seem so very connected to their owners and are SO HAPPY to be with them. Unconditional love, I think. Look at the photos I used - they are all looking straight out at their humans with such affection!
As I read this my dog was standing by the kitchen table silently badgering me for a treat as I ate a late breakfast. I showed her your post. Unfortunately she can't read. I gave her a doggie treat.
I’m a cat person
You’re a dog person

I never had a dog in my life, Richard. Cats all the way. But I have observed a lot of dogs and I am just a hell of a good writer. ha ha ha!
ou can be both a dog AND a cat person--and a hell of a great writer!
I laugh with you and every bark agrees your writing is a treat that a dog would beg for more obey commands just to please.
Still a fun read!
This made me smile!
I believe you are attuned to a dog’s way Of thinking!

Yes they are, sometimes, to a fault!
Awww! For some reason that got me right in the feels this morning! 💚💚💚
Good! Mission accomplished, then. Thank you, Jack!
Ahh Sharon, what a great dog owner you would be…. Or maybe what a great dog’s pet you would be.

Thanks for opening my eyes this morning, Sharron.

ha ha ha. Glad to be helpful.
Well that was a two-hanky post.
Thank you
Thanks so much, sweetheart. You obviously know dogs!
Oh Sharron, I am the last person in the world to ever be described as a dog person, but this post is absolute perfection. Bravo, friend! X
Nice piece of early morning smiles. I never had a dog, but I talk to them whenever I can.

Woof! And why wouldn't you! She's a good girl and doesn't ask for much.
Sharon, you had me at who's a good boy. What a delightful poem and pictures.
Thank you, Kathleen. Sounds like you have affection for dogs. Me, too. I am glad this post touched you in some way.
Sharon, I have Affection for all God's little creatures, especially dogs and cats
So true so true
Wooof!
