Concisely terrifying… It makes me think of what my eighth grade teacher said, when she was talking about how our world could end with nuclear war… “And life would start again from the bottom of the sea…”

The title had a resonance for me and I was trying to think what it was, it’s a resonance to the title about another horror, the song “Strange Fruit” sung by Billie Holliday. Two horrors symbolized by fruit. And then there’s Eve picking the apple. Hmmm… not sure what the significance is.🤔

Well done, Sharron. It reminds me of The Road by Cormac McCarthy except your story allows for a little optimism which is very much lacking in McCarthy's story.
