Concisely terrifying… It makes me think of what my eighth grade teacher said, when she was talking about how our world could end with nuclear war… “And life would start again from the bottom of the sea…”
The title had a resonance for me and I was trying to think what it was, it’s a resonance to the title about another horror, the song “Strange Fruit” sung by Billie Holliday. Two horrors symbolized by fruit. And then there’s Eve picking the apple. Hmmm… not sure what the significance is.🤔
Oops, sorry, your wild fruit did not signify horrors! 🤦♀️ Gonna go drink some coffee for my feeble brain. Coffee beans, my favorite and very needed fruit 🤦♀️😍😅
Well done, Sharron. It reminds me of The Road by Cormac McCarthy except your story allows for a little optimism which is very much lacking in McCarthy's story.
No, probably not. But interesting to watch eh?

Will offer you a simple & elegant ‘tip to enhance posts like this..

They will. (It will be like a second marriage: the triumph of hope over experience!)
And wild grapes?
Let's hope they do get it right.

Hmmmnnnn, lots to ponder. I’m just so excited I’ve gotten an orchid I murdered to bloom again.

Liking your read, Sharron. The beginning pause says alot!
Oh gosh, this is food for thought indeed! A call to responsibility, Sharron - this superb story has a great message. 😊

I believe....
I’m hopeful they will. Another brilliant fifty-word story!
