So that is where the story comes from. It is wonderful that you were able to share the story with your mother. It must be like a memorial to her for you.

Yes, I feel that way too, Scott. That little story brings back many memories of mom's last days for me. And, somehow, helps ameliorate the regrets I have. You know what I mean.

So very poignant Sharron. A very dignified tribute to Katy. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for reading, Jim. I appreciate your comments! I prefer to write fiction, but I do still have a few personal stories to sift through that might ( might ) be of interest to readers. I hope.

Oh, I didn't know that is how you started the book - how precious!

Thank you, Linda. It was something my mom and I shared during those last hard months that brought us even closer.

Oh, Sharron. Rescue and redemption, and inspired by Katy's wonderings about the painting. Deep, beautiful, heart-moving. You and your mum had something very, very special, and it's a privilege to read about your relationship here. Thank you. ♥️

We were close our entire lives. Though she is gone now, we are still close. She was a positive spirit on the planet. Undereducated, unfortunate, thwarted at every turn when she was young. She never lost her happy spirit and hope. She taught me to have courage and be kind. My best life lesson.

What a wonderful story Sharron. I did not know you started Bartle Clunes for Kay. You are a gifted writer and an amazing, loving daughter ❤️

Thanks, Susan. She really loved the Bassanos, too. I hope you know that. You all were such fine models for her of what loving, stable families were all about.

These people are my neighbors too. I told you I met Eiser Griggs at the grocery store. Just as delightful as you describe. Haven't seen him again..... I've shared copies of the book with family and friends. So the reader list is longer and longer. I've been Kate the last 40 some years, never Katy. Never met her but I always will like her. Thanks for sharing ))))))

Thank you, my friend, for helping to send Bartle Clunes out into the world. He is a good role model.

Sharron, what a beautiful story! And, what a wonderful idea for engaging your mom into not only Bartle’s story but with you as well.

What precious memories.

Yes. After living together for so long, we had run out of things to talk about. The story gave us an entirely new topic. Though, frankly, I am not quite sure she understood that it was me who was writing it.!

So interesting how one thing can lead to another and before you know it you have a story. A good one!

Wonderful, Sharron! I love this "slice of life" with your mother and the telling of how Bartle Clunes came into existence is just compelling. Excited to start reading. Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for reading it. As I say, it seems the more I write, the easier it is to bear the grief. I hope it works that way for you.
