“I never was in jail once in my whole life, Haylene, and because of you I've been locked up twice in two days. I’m beginning to think you’re a bad influence on me.”
Thanks, Mitchell. I will take one day off then start writing it. Somebody's got to clean this house and weed that garden! Although they say if you don't clean your house, the dust doesn't get any worse after four years.
Nope. Never been to Florida. I, no doubt, made some mistakes - about the route and especially about police procedures, but it doesn't matter -- it is just a little 2-page romp. Thanks for hanging out at 🍁Leaves, my friend.
Where to next? You want to take the reins? I would love it, but I know you have all sorts of unfinished writing projects of your own to work on. Still, the idea of collaboration .... it could be fun. I am thinking they will have to head north sometime. I wonder how they would fare in the state of Maine. No, probably not... I can't see Haylene living up to Maine's state motto of "Live Slow". Can you? You working on some new eavesdropping conversations to share with us?
Okay, you caught me out. I admit it, there were a couple of lines that cracked me up. Mostly because I do not, for the life of me, know where they came from!
Gotta love the bad influencers. There's probably a math theorem somewhere stating that - after the fact, bad influencers equal more fun and great stories. Great story!
As long as the cringe to laughter ratio was in your favor, Heather. They were just trying to be kind in that parking lot and look where it got them. I am sure they were over it by the next day .... after putting a few miles between themselves and Key West.
Little Marla was amused, but Haylene was not. They were just trying to help out and look what happened. AND It was her birthday, after all! Thank you Olga for coming back to read at 🍁Leaves. I will see if I can come up with Part 6 for you.
These two jail birds crack me up! I love reading about their adventures. The dialogue is too damn funny. Also, I love that you mentioned Hootie and the Blowfish. My wife and I just listened to one of their albums the other night. Fun stuff!
Haha, I felt the same way! I just looked at it again. Seeing our names on the list with the great Sherman Alexie and others is pretty neat. We’re in good company!

1.) Eeuww! I better rethink.
2.) Thanks, MA.
Pretty cute! I was wondering if you had ever cruised the highway to the Keys? Very good description.

Love this tale of a fun and exciting road trip. These two gals are great.
I wonder what would transpire if Brad and Trevor met up with Marla and Haylene in some out of the way tavern...
"That don't sound like fake cops to me."
Loved this one Sharron. I liked the feel of the Overseas Highway and the Key West party scene which can be pretty wild (or so I've heard.)
I hope the girls can find a nice place where no one is aware of their "criminal history."
Thank you. Florida is a big state. Their infamy my be kept at a local level As long as no APB's go out. hahaha

It would be fun to collaborate. I don’t know if I could do the girls justice but I’ll email you soon.
Yes, I received a new batch of conversations from Penn this morning! I’ll be working on getting them out soon.
Also working on a story that will take a little time but not in a big rush.
I love the sound of inspired fingers clicking keys. I can hear you all the way out here on the left coast. Go Jim!
All these things just fall out of your head eh? I'll bet you do a lot of laughing at your keyboard. )))

This is delightful ... never a dull moment with those two.
They have stamina, I have to say! Haylene would wear me out.

Haylene is not always smart, but that can be said of all of us at times. I love her.
Part of me cringed and part of me laughed! Thank you!

Wonder what the jails are like in the next town!
Yeeeks!
I couldn't help laughing when the ladies got arrested a second time. Ha ha!

For sure!
Loved this, Sharron! These girls are just wonderful!
"Haylene was as mad as a wet hen...." 🙌
Thanks, Rebecca!

Thanks for the entertaining read!
Yaaaay! Glad you thought it was funny! Thanks! FYI - I just joined you and several of
my Substack "tribe" on Erica's fiction writers' list! For some reason, I feel somewhat star struck! Doesn't take much to thrill me.
Haha, I felt the same way! I just looked at it again. Seeing our names on the list with the great Sherman Alexie and others is pretty neat. We’re in good company!
I love these two girls! Where's the rest of it? I need more!
So glad you like these free-wheelers . I need to up date my links for all seven of them. Here is episode 6 with a link to 7.
LOL! My use of imagination about most of the things I put in my novel tips the scales at BOINK!
Hah!
